I switched from a basic battery brush and the difference is obvious. The modes are not confusing and I mainly stick to Clean in the morning and Gentle at night when my gums feel tender. The pressure indicator saved me from my bad habit of scrubbing. After two weeks my coffee stains around a front tooth look lighter and flossing is easier because there is less gunk.
